Memorable Life – May 2012 Creative Color Challenge

In the United States we are celebrating Memorial Day…a day to remember those who have served our country and a day to honor those who still serve.  I'd like to personally thank our servce men and women and to especially thank my youngest son Luke who is still in the military.  All three of our sons have served, and Luke is still in the military after re-enlisting a couple years ago.

Our country enjoys many freedoms, and it's all to easy to take them for granted.  A day like today helps us to remember that those freedoms were won and stay intact because of the many personal sacrifices given by so many…especially those who have paid the ultimate price with their lives…so I thank all of  you, including the families who have lost their loved ones.  Freedom isn't free.

Today is also the day of the month where those participating in Louise Gale's Creative Color Challenge post their art…this is the piece I created in Photoshop.  I used the suggested color palette, and begin by creating patterns for the dress and pinafore.  I add many layers, and often, as I did here, include my favorite motifs…here I used hearts, flowers, and butterflies.  In order for the many underlying layers to peek through I often "erase" parts of those layers.

This month's patette includes two of my favorite colors, pink and purple, so naturally this challenge was a lot of fun for me.
