I was a HUGE fan of Saturday Night Live back in the "olden" days…back when Steve Martin was a relatively unknown comic writing for SNL…back when Chevy Chase, Jane Curtain, Gilda Radner, Dan Akroyd, Bill Murray, and several others where older than me but way younger than I am now…there was a sketch that Steve Martin and Bill Murray did, and they are all looking at something and asking each other, "what the hell IS that?" and on and on…I thought it was hilarious…as hilarious as the land shark…two wild and crazy guys, the stunt baby sketch…OMG…my sisters Gail and Nancy and I would go on and on and on recounting some of our favorites…
Several years after Gail and I had graduated and left home, we went back
home for the weekend to help our youngest sister, Nancy, paint her bedroom…the house was one and a half stories, and Nancy's room was the "half-story" upstairs…we got started painting, and I don't know if it was the paint fumes or if we just really were that funny, but we were hysterical…laughing our butts off, and going on and on making up jokes about the "stunt baby"…an SNL sketch which would involve a movie being shot, and if there was danger of the baby being hurt, they would bring in "the stunt baby." Now seriously, I don't know if the original sketch was that funny, or if we were even funnier, but we were having a great time…apparently we were SO funny that our father snuck up the stairs to see what we were laughing so hysterically for…seriously, he thought we were smoking weed…something we didn't even do…and we weren't even drinking…we were just really really being funny…I know I'm getting way off track, but the butterflies in my head started flitting about, and I took a turn own memory lane…
So, here's the scoop…Monica and I are getting ready to launch our second collaborative art doll class…it's going to be a mixed media quilted doll, and the start date is set for February 2. Here's what I'm working on tonight…which brought to mind the "what the hell IS that" sketch from SNL…you'll just have to stay tuned to find out more…I scanned these in my printer…but I'm hoping to have them done soon…real soon…
And if you really want to "try" to understand what the heck the stunt baby sketch is, you'll have to watch some classic SNL…you might want to check out Todd and Lisa (Bill Murray and Gilda Radner)…classic SNL…OMG…they were hilarious!
They may not look like much right now, but just wait!!!
Thanks for stopping by and as always…
Toodles and hugs!
What say you?
