Summer of Color 2012 Challenge Week Two – Mint Chocolate Chip

It's time for round two of the Summer of Color 2012 Ice Cream Challenge!  This week's challenge is mint chocolate chip.  I made two entries this week.  Kristin of Twinkle Twinkle, the hostess of this challenge posted the Baskins Robbin pic:

So, which one to choose?  The more familiar green or the less familiar bluish color?  Well, why not both?  After all, it's ice cream!  Who needs to choose just one?  Not me!

So, to briefly share how I go about creating my digital submission…I downloaded the pictures, opened them up in Photoshop, and then I use the color picker tool to create my color palette.  Here are my two palettes:

From there, I create my ice cream cone using the color palette.  I being by creating a "pattern" and start making layers.  I used the eraser tool and the drop shadow to imitate the varying textures for the scoops of ice cream.  For the waffle pattern in the cone, I decided to embellish it a bit and used a glitter style.  I also used a "jewel" style to create the chocolate chips and to offer a bit of interest to the ice cream.

From there, I worked on my backgrounds, again creating layer after layer of colors using various brushes to create texture.  The cones are moved into place, and my work is finished!

I couldn't decide which one I liked best, so they both got to come out to play!

Stay tuned for next week's challenge!

Again, as always, thank you so much for stopping by!

Hugs and Toodles!
