This week’s Sugar Nellie Challenge was Lilac & Lemon-what a fun combo for upcoming spring. Of course, I had to dig out one of my new Sugar Nellie stamps-this time I chose "Dressing-Up Maggie." She is so cute and adorable, and reminds me of my youngest granddaughter, Kristen. A few years ago I had the privilege of providing daycare for my two granddaughters for about three years until they moved from the area. Kristen was just short of three when I began watching them, and she loved to play dress-up. I gave her some old black heels and a few outdated dresses. Almost daily she came out wanting me to tie her dress. I plan on sending her this special card. She’s nine going on ten, and perhaps thinks that playing dress-up is a bit juvenile now (I should say she’s nine going on 16, but that’s another story!).
I stamped the image on watercolor paper, and used chalk and a blender pen to color it. I then used a coordinating piece of Lily Kate to piece the dress. I used Nestibilities oval dies to cut out and emboss the image and the Yoyo Yellow card stock. I used Lovely Lilac for the base, and Basic Grey Lily Kate designer print paper to layer. I don’t remember the brand of yarn I used for the fiber accent, but I purchased it at Hobby Lobby (big yarn sale). I used self-adhesive pearls for the corner accents, and Liquid Pearls for the necklace.
